Abdullah Dhu al-Bijadayn

عَبْدُ اللهِ ذُو الْبِجَادَيْنِ

ʿAbdullāh Dhū al-Bijādayn

Biography

ʿAbdullāh Dhū al-Bijādayn accepted Islam after his people stripped him of support. Reaching Medina with one coarse cloth, he tore it into two garments, from which came his enduring name, 'the man of the two coarse cloths.' He died during Tabūk and was personally buried by the Prophet ﷺ.

Significance

His quiet death and burial reveal the Prophet's ﷺ care for an otherwise little-known member of the army.
