Abdullah ibn Abi Umayyah

ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Umayyah al-Makhzūmī (عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ) was the full brother of Umm Salamah (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا), one of the Mothers of the Believers, and a prominent Qurayshī leader from Banū Makhzūm. He was present at the deathbed of Abū Ṭālib alongside Abū Jahl (أَبُو جَهْل), and the two of them repeatedly invoked the religion of ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib to dissuade Abū Ṭālib from saying the Shahādah whenever the Prophet ﷺ pressed him. This scene is recorded in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī. He was one of the most hostile opponents of Islam in the Meccan period. He later accepted Islam (year of the Conquest of Mecca or shortly before) and became a Companion.
