Abdullah ibn Atik

ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAtīk was an Anṣārī Companion of the Khazraj chosen to lead the five-man mission to eliminate Sallām ibn Abī al-Ḥuqayq at Khaybar in 6 AH, selected for his fluency in the mixed Hebrew-Arabic dialect spoken by the Jewish tribes of the region, having grown up in close contact with them in pre-Islamic Yathrib. He devised the plan that let the team slip into Khaybar's fortress at dusk, feigning to relieve himself near the gate until the guard, eager to close it for the night, waved him through without suspicion. After the mission was completed and the team fled the fortress, ibn ʿAtīk, said to have had weak eyesight, missed a step on a stairway and injured his foot badly enough that his companions had to carry him back to Madinah. Upon their return, the Prophet ﷺ passed his hand over the injured foot, and it healed completely.
