Abdullah ibn Ja'far

ʿAbdullāh ibn Jaʿfar, the elder son of Jaʿfar ibn Abī Ṭālib, was about six or seven years old when his father was martyred at Mu'tah. He narrates that the Prophet ﷺ visited the grieving household three days after the news, found the children's hair disheveled with grief-stricken neglect, and called for a barber to groom them himself. The Prophet ﷺ told him he resembled him most in looks and manner, and raised ʿAbdullāh's hand in a du'a asking Allah to bless his transactions and let Ja'far's line flourish, since as the eldest, ʿAbdullāh would become the family's provider. He grew up renowned for his extraordinary generosity.
