Abdullah ibn Tariq

ʿAbdullāh ibn Ṭāriq was one of the ten Companions ambushed at ar-Rajīʿ (Muḥarram 4 AH). When the last three survivors, himself, Khubayb ibn ʿAdī, and Zayd ibn al-Dathinnah, were offered a promise of safety if they surrendered, ʿAbdullāh alone refused, recognizing the moment their captors bound him like an animal as the first clear sign of treachery. He would not walk with them and was killed on the spot.
