Biography
Abū Hurayrah (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu) is the most prolific narrator of Prophetic ḥadīth in Islamic history, with over five thousand narrations attributed to him. He accepted Islam in 7 AH, relatively late in the Prophetic mission, yet his complete dedication to the Prophet's company allowed him to accumulate an unparalleled volume of narrations. He was a poor man of the Ahl aṣ-Ṣuffah who devoted himself entirely to learning from the Prophet (ﷺ). He used to test his students with the question: "Who is that Muslim who entered Jannah without making a single Sajdah?", the answer being al-Uṣayrim (Usayrim) of Banū ʿAbd al-Ashhal, who accepted Islam on the morning of the Battle of Uḥud and was martyred the same day before Ẓuhr time entered.
