Abu Quhafah

The father of Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq, and perhaps the oldest man alive in Mecca at the Conquest, blind and barely able to walk. He had opposed the message and shown his anger to Abū Bakr's family through the years. At the Conquest his granddaughter Asmāʾ led him by the hand to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Why did you not leave the shaykh at home? We would have come to him", an honour shown for Abū Bakr's sake. He accepted Islam, and the Prophet ﷺ told his family to change the pigeon-white of his hair, but to avoid black.
