Abu Rafi

Abū Rāfiʿ was a freed slave (mawlā) of the Prophet ﷺ and a narrator of several incidents of the sīrah. At Khaybar he witnessed the famous episode of ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib and the fortress door: when ʿAlī's shield was knocked from his grasp during the fighting at al-Nāʿim, he unhinged the massive door of the fortress and used it as a shield for the rest of the battle. Abū Rāfiʿ narrated that afterwards seven men together tried to lift that door and could not, a karāmah granted to ʿAlī.
