Biography
A little-known Companion whom the Prophet ﷺ appointed over the affairs of Medina when he set out for the Conquest of Makkah in Ramaḍān of 8 AH. That the man left behind was not one of the major figures underlines how completely the senior Companions all marched on Makkah, someone still had to manage the city, and it fell to him.
Significance
His appointment shows every major Companion joined the Conquest; the city was left to a minor figure.
