الحُوَيْرِث بْن النُقَيْذ

al-Ḥuwayrith ibn al-Nuqaydh

Biography

A Qurayshī named among those denied amnesty at the Conquest. In the early days he had violently obstructed the Prophet's daughters Fāṭimah and Umm Kulthūm as al-ʿAbbās tried to bring them out of Mecca, startling their mount so that they were thrown. He was executed at the Conquest, fittingly by ʿAlī, husband of Fāṭimah.

Significance

One of the four actually killed at the Conquest, for his assault on the Prophet's ﷺ emigrating daughters.
