al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad

al-Miqdād ibn al-Aswad رضي الله عنه was one of the seven earliest Muslims named by ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd as the first identifiable group of Muslims: himself, Abū Bakr, ʿAmmār, Sumayyah, Ṣuhayb, Bilāl, and al-Miqdād. He was from the slave and client class of Makkah without full tribal protection, and was among those tortured for their faith in the early period.

He is also known as the first Muslim to fight on horseback in the path of Islām, making him a pioneer of mounted warfare in the Muslim army. He participated in the Battle of Badr and many other expeditions of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. He narrated hadith and was highly regarded by the companions.
