Ash-Shaymāʾ

Ash-Shaymāʾ bint al-Ḥārith was the daughter of Ḥalīmah as-Saʿdiyyah and the foster-sister of the Prophet ﷺ, who as a girl helped carry and care for him among the Banū Saʿd. Years later, after the Conquest of Mecca, her people were captured at Ḥunayn and she was brought among the prisoners, declaring herself the Prophet's ﷺ sister; she proved it by a mark from a bite he had given her as a baby on her back, and he honoured her, gave her gifts, and set her free.
