Bahira

Baḥīrā was a Christian monk who lived in a cell near Busra in Syria. In a widely-told but disputed report, he is said to have recognised signs of prophethood in the young Muhammad ﷺ when Abu Talib's caravan passed by, and to have warned that he be guarded. The careful scholars of the sirah, foremost among them Imam adh-Dhahabī, judged the report unsound, indeed fabricated, for reasons of both its chain and its sense.
