Barirah

Barīrah was a formerly enslaved woman whom ʿĀʾishah bint Abī Bakr purchased and freed, after which she chose to remain in ʿĀʾishah's household out of gratitude and loyalty, effectively serving as her attendant. During the slander against ʿĀʾishah (5 AH), the Prophet (ﷺ) called Barīrah directly to testify to ʿĀʾishah's character, as someone in the closest daily proximity to her. Trembling under direct questioning, Barīrah testified she had seen nothing objectionable from ʿĀʾishah at all, the only fault she could name being that ʿĀʾishah would sometimes fall asleep while kneading dough, allowing a goat to wander in and eat it.
