Biography
Jābir ibn ʿAbdullāh al-Anṣārī رضي الله عنه was among the six people from the Khazraj tribe who became the first converts from Yathrib, in the 10th year of the Prophet's ﷺ Da'wah. The speaker notes he was very young at the time, possibly pre-baligh (pre-pubescent), and was present with his tribe when they met the Prophet ﷺ at Aqabah in Mina.
Jābir later became one of the most prolific narrators of hadith among the Ṣaḥābah. He was from the Banu Salamah of the Khazraj, and his father ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAmr ibn Ḥarām was martyred at Uhud (one of the great Ansari martyrs). Jabir is known for numerous narrations about both the Makkan and Medinan periods and was known for his deep learning and long life.
Significance
His presence as a child at the first Khazraj meeting illustrates how the seeds of the Islamic community in Yathrib were planted across generations; his later scholarly output shaped Islamic knowledge
