Khawwat ibn Jubayr

Khawwāt ibn Jubayr was a senior Companion of the Anṣār who, alongside Saʿd ibn Muʿādh, Saʿd ibn ʿUbādah, and ʿAbdullāh ibn Rawāḥah, was chosen by the Prophet ﷺ as one of the four-man delegation sent to confirm directly with Banū Qurayẓah's chieftain, Kaʿb ibn Asad, whether the tribe had genuinely broken its treaty with the Muslims during the Battle of the Trench (5 AH). The Prophet ﷺ chose the four specifically for their long-standing personal ties with Banū Qurayẓah from the pre-Islamic era, so their assessment of the tribe's true position could be trusted. They found Banū Qurayẓah's response openly hostile and evasive, and returned using a coded phrase to signal the Prophet ﷺ that the treachery was confirmed, rather than announcing it publicly and causing panic among the besieged Muslims.
