Khirash ibn Umayyah

Khirāsh ibn Umayyah was a Companion of the tribe of Khuzāʿah, neither Muhājir nor Anṣārī, chosen by the Prophet ﷺ as the first Muslim emissary sent directly into Makkah during the standoff at al-Ḥudaybiyyah (6 AH). The Prophet ﷺ sent him riding his own personal camel, al-Thaʿlab, a recognizable symbol meant to signal peaceful intent. Instead, Quraysh recognized the camel, surrounded Khirāsh in an angry mob, hamstrung the animal, and nearly killed him before another member of Khuzāʿah present in Makkah intervened and calmed the crowd, securing his safe return without any negotiation taking place.
