Biography
Kināna was Ṣafiyyah bint Ḥuyayy's husband at Khaybar. When Ṣafiyyah dreamed that the moon rose from Yathrib and fell into her lap, she told him, and he struck her across the face, leaving a bruise, saying: do you hope that the king of the Arabs will marry you? He had, in fact, read the dream rightly. Ṣafiyyah related that her menses began that very day and he never approached her again before he was killed in the Battle of Khaybar, where her father and brother also fell.
Significance
His violent reaction to Ṣafiyyah's dream, and his own correct reading of it, became part of how Allah prepared her heart for what followed.
