Mikraz ibn Hafs

Mikraz ibn Ḥafṣ was a Qurashī sent hastily as a negotiator to the Prophet ﷺ at al-Ḥudaybiyyah (6 AH) once Quraysh grew alarmed at the Muslims' Pledge of al-Riḍwān. Seeing him approach, the Prophet ﷺ remarked to the Companions that Mikraz was "a man of evil" (rajulu sūʾ) and that nothing good would come of him. True to that reading, Mikraz arrived without a workable plan or mandate; the negotiation with him stalled entirely, his conditions unacceptable to either side, until the far more capable Suhayl ibn ʿAmr arrived to take his place.
