Sa'd ibn Khaythama
سَعْد بْن خَيْثَمَةSaʿd ibn Khaythama
Biography
An Ansari companion from the Banū ʿAmr ibn ʿAwf, one of the clans of the Aws tribe. He was a bachelor, unmarried, which made his house more suitable for the Prophet ﷺ to receive visitors and guests during the Qubāʾ stay. While the Prophet ﷺ spent his nights at the house of Kulthūm ibn Hidm (where a married household kept things more private and settled), he spent his days at Saʿd ibn Khaythama's house, where Anṣār, Muhājirūn, and interested visitors could come freely to meet him.
His house was thus effectively the public reception hall of the Prophet ﷺ during those first Monday-to-Thursday days in Qubāʾ.
Significance
Hosted the Prophet ﷺ during daytime at Quba; his bachelor household served as the public reception venue where visitors could come to meet the Prophet
