Salma bint Umays
سَلْمَى بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍSalmā bint ʿUmays
Biography
Salmā bint ʿUmays, the youngest of five daughters of the same mother as Zaynab bint Khuzaymah and Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays, was married to Ḥamzah ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, the Prophet's (ﷺ) uncle and Sayyid ash-Shuhadāʾ. Together they had a daughter, ʿUmārah bint Ḥamzah, who as a young girl became the subject of a custody dispute among several Companions after Ḥamzah's martyrdom at Uḥud.

Wife of Hamzah ibn Abd al-Muttalib, Sayyid ash-Shuhada; mother of Umarah bint Hamzah, whose later custody dispute among the Companions was resolved through her aunt-by-marriage connections to Asma bint Umays and Ja'far ibn Abi Talib
