Sa'yah

Saʿyah, the uncle, or in one report the brother, of Ḥuyayy ibn Akhṭab, the Banū al-Naḍīr leader killed early in the Battle of Khaybar. Under the surrender terms of Khaybar the tribes were bound to hand over all gold, silver, weapons, and armor, on pain of voiding the treaty. Asked where Ḥuyayy's famous treasure of gold had gone, Saʿyah claimed the wars and expenses had consumed it. The Prophet ﷺ replied that the time was short and the wealth far greater than that, and when Saʿyah kept insisting, he was handed to al-Zubayr ibn al-ʿAwwām to extract the truth. He soon pointed to a valley, where the freshly disturbed earth yielded the hidden treasure. He went on living his life afterwards.
