Biography

ʿUqba ibn ʿĀmir al-Anṣārī رضي الله عنه was among the six men from the Khazraj who became the first converts to Islam from Yathrib, meeting the Prophet at Aqabah in Mina during the 10th year of Da'wah. The speaker identifies him as a "famous Ansari." He returned to Yathrib and participated in the spread of Islam there, becoming part of the founding community of what would become the first Islamic city.

Significance

Part of the original six whose conversion planted the seed for the entire Islamic community in Yathrib/Madinah
