Usamah ibn Zayd

Usāmah ibn Zayd was the son of Zayd ibn Ḥārithah, the Prophet's (ﷺ) beloved adopted son, and Umm Ayman, the woman who had cared for the Prophet (ﷺ) as an infant after his mother Āminah's death. Because both his parents held such a close place in the Prophet's (ﷺ) household, Usāmah was known by the honorific "al-Ḥibb ibn al-Ḥibb", the beloved, son of the beloved, and moved freely in and out of the Prophet's (ﷺ) household from a young age, giving him unusual insight into its daily life even as a young teenager.

During the slander of ʿĀʾishah (5 AH), the Prophet (ﷺ), troubled and seeking counsel from those closest to him, called on Usāmah, then only around thirteen or fourteen, alongside ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib for his assessment. Usāmah testified unequivocally in ʿĀʾishah's favor, stating plainly that it was not possible for any wrongdoing to be true of her, having seen nothing of the kind in all his time in the household.
