The Hijrah

The Quraysh, realizing the Muslims had found a new base, plotted to assassinate the Prophet ﷺ. They selected a young man from each clan to strike him simultaneously. Allah informed the Prophet of their plot.

He instructed Ali to sleep in his bed and return the trusts people had left with him. Under the cover of night, the Prophet left his house, reciting verses of Surah Yasin, and threw dust at the assassins, blinding them to his presence. He met Abu Bakr, and together they hid in the Cave of Thawr for three days.

Despite the manhunt, they escaped and made the arduous journey to Medina. When they arrived, the city erupted in joy. Men, women, and children climbed rooftops singing 'Tala'a al-Badru Alayna' (The Full Moon has risen upon us). The Prophet had arrived, and Yathrib became Madinat al-Nabi, the City of the Prophet.
