ʿUthman ibn al-Huwayrith

ʿUthman ibn al-Ḥuwayrith (عُثْمَانُ بْنُ ٱلْحُوَيْرِث) was one of the four Meccans who agreed to seek the religion of Ibrahim and scattered across the lands in search of it. He embraced Christianity and travelled to Rome, where he made his way into the palace of Caesar and became an interpreter at the imperial court; there he was given wealth and high standing, and he remained a Christian until he died.

He left Makkah never to return, and it is not known whether the message of the Prophet ﷺ ever reached him. Of the four seekers, three turned to Christianity and only Waraqah came at last to the truth; ʿUthman's road ended in the favour of Caesar, farthest of them all from the religion of Ibrahim they had set out to find.
