Biography

Abdullah was the most beloved son of Abdul-Muttalib and the father of Prophet Muhammad . He was known for his handsome features and noble character. He was the subject of a famous incident where his father vowed to sacrifice one of his sons, and the lot fell on Abdullah. He was ransomed with 100 camels, an event that established the blood money tradition in Arabia. He married Aminah bint Wahb but died young in Medina at the age of 25 while returning from a trade journey to Syria, leaving behind his pregnant wife and a small inheritance.

Significance

Father of the Final Prophet, his life was ransomed by 100 camels, prefiguring the value of a human life in Islamic law.
