Al-Walid ibn al-Walid

The older brother of Khālid ibn al-Walīd and one of the early companions. When the Prophet ﷺ repeatedly asked in Madinah for a volunteer to rescue ʿAyyāsh ibn Abī Rabīʿah and Hishām ibn al-ʿĀṣ from their imprisonment in Makkah, and no one came forward, al-Walīd stepped up: "I will do it, Yā Rasūlallāh." He traveled alone to Makkah, walking back into the lion's den, found the location of the secret dungeon, climbed its wall at night, cut the bonds of both prisoners, and smuggled them out of Makkah to safety in Madinah. The bravery displayed runs in the family: his younger brother Khālid ibn al-Walīd would later become Sayf Allāh al-Maslūl (the Drawn Sword of Allah), the greatest military commander of the early Islamic conquests.
