Biography
Hashim was the great-grandfather of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the progenitor of the Banu Hashim clan. He was a wealthy merchant who established the two great trade journeys of Quraysh (winter to Yemen and summer to Syria). He was known for his immense generosity, particularly in providing food (tharid) and water to pilgrims in Mecca. He died in Gaza during a trade journey.
