Qatadah ibn al-Nu'man al-Awsi

Qatādah ibn al-Nuʿmān al-Awsī was an Anṣārī Companion from the Aws tribe present at the Battle of Uḥud when the Prophet (ﷺ) took refuge with a small band in a narrow crevice in the mountain. The Prophet (ﷺ) handed him an extra bow from among those he had collected; Qatādah used it so continuously in the defense that the bow lost its flexibility entirely. When volleys of arrows continued to rain toward the Prophet's position, Qatādah resolved to shield him bodily. He intercepted arrow after arrow, until one struck his own eye, dislodging it from its socket. Seeing this, the Prophet (ﷺ) wept and made duʿāʾ: "O Allah, Qatādah has protected Your Prophet with his face, let his eye become the best of the two, and the most precise in sight." The Prophet (ﷺ) then replaced the eye with his own hand, and it healed instantly, becoming, by Qatādah's own account, sharper and more accurate than his other eye for the rest of his life.
