Miraculous Healing: Qatādah's Eye and ʿAlī at Khaybar

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi explains:

The seventh category is instantaneous healing, the sick cured on the spot, the wounded made whole.

❧Qatādah's eye at Uḥud

Qatādah ibn al-Nuʿmān was among the small band who shielded the Prophet ﷺ in the worst of Uḥud, using his own body to catch the arrows meant for him. One arrow struck his eye and it fell from its socket. Seeing this, the Prophet ﷺ made a special duʿāʾ: "O Allāh, Your servant Qatādah shielded the face of Your Prophet with his own, restore his eye to him, better than it was." Qatādah said the eye healed at once and remained the sharper of his two eyes until he died.

❧ʿAlī at Khaybar

After some fifteen or sixteen days of siege, the Prophet ﷺ foretold that he would give the banner the next day to one at whose hands Allāh would grant victory. Every man hoped it would be him. He ﷺ asked for ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, and was told ʿAlī was suffering an eye infection so severe he could not open his eyes or walk. "Bring him to me." ʿAlī was led in with his eyes shut; the Prophet ﷺ applied his saliva to them and made duʿāʾ, and then and there they cleared, and the victory was given to him.

❧The boy set free

A boy born deaf, mute, and unable to walk was brought to him, and the Prophet ﷺ performed ruqyah, and, as the narrator put it, it was as if he had been untied from a rope: the child sprang up whole and normal, a boy of seven or eight, after a lifetime bound.
