Urwah ibn al-Zubayr

ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr was the son of al-Zubayr ibn al-ʿAwwām and Asmāʾ bint Abī Bakr, born after the Prophet's (ﷺ) death and so not himself a Ṣaḥābī, but one of the most important scholars of the following generation (Tābiʿī), one of the "Seven Fuqahāʾ of Madinah." As the blood nephew of ʿĀʾishah bint Abī Bakr (his mother's sister), he had unrestricted access to her without the constraints of ḥijāb, and became her most prolific narrator, transmitting a large portion of her ḥadīth corpus, including her recollection of Q 3:172, revealed concerning his father al-Zubayr and grandfather Abū Bakr among the seventy who marched out to Ḥamrāʾ al-Asad despite their wounds.
