Uthman ibn Talhah

ʿUthmān ibn Ṭalḥah, of Banū ʿAbd al-Dār, held the hereditary key of the Kaʿbah, one of the great honors of Quraysh. Alongside Khālid ibn al-Walīd he witnessed the surge of conversions in the wake of ʿUmrat al-Qaḍāʾ, and on the night Khālid decided to leave Mecca rather than risk his life for hesitating, ʿUthmān joined him. The two departed together and met ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ on the road back from Abyssinia; all three arrived in Medina together and embraced Islam before the Prophet ﷺ, becoming, with Khālid and ʿAmr, the last prominent conversions before the Conquest of Mecca.
