عَاتِكَة بِنْت زَيْدʿĀtikah bint Zayd
Biography
ʿĀtikah bint Zayd was the daughter of Zayd ibn ʿAmr ibn Nufayl and Fāṭimah bint Baʿjah, and the sister of Saʿīd ibn Zayd. Her marriages connect the Banū ʿAdī family to several major Companion households: she was married to Zayd ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, then ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Bakr, then ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, then al-Zubayr ibn al-ʿAwwām, and later al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī. She is especially remembered in the biographical literature for her poetry and for being widowed by several husbands who died violent or martyr-like deaths.
